Explores questions of identity within various cultural contexts. Writers represent one or more ethnic groups working in one or more genres of literature with emphasis on developments in voice, genre, and style over chronological periods and geographical zones. Individual sections may vary in particular emphasis. (Prerequisite: 10-801-136, English Composition I OR 10-801-195, Written Communication with a "C" or better.)

Event Marketing

Learn the event management process, including planning, securing sponsorships, promotion execution, and evaluation of special events (entertainment, industry, meeting/convention). Students will work toward the actual staging of an event (will require time outside of the classroom setting).

Exercise Physiology

3 cr.

Develops an understanding of the functionality and responses of cardiovascular and strength training exercise on the human body. (Prerequisite: 10-546-105, Wellness Kinesiology)

Exercise Testing & Prescription

3 cr.

Apply exercise theory to assess and develop interventional wellness-related exercise programs for individuals and groups. Assess exercise risk factors and implement safety measure to assure client safety. (Prerequisite: 10-546-105 Wellness Kinesiology and 10-546-109 Exercise Physiology)

Experimental Design

1 cr.

Provides learners the opportunity to analyze the principles of successful experimental design and execution. Learners will apply the steps of the scientific method to design sound experiments based on scenarios from research and industrial settings.

Fall Garden Management

2 cr.

Use GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) to harvest, clean and bring produce to markets. Use season-extending hoop house, compost vegetative residue, sow cover crops, and prepare the garden for next year. (Prerequisite: 10-090-131, Organic Gardening)

Family Systems

3 cr.

Provides a broad understanding of family systems theory and practice relevant to the human services field. Focus is on evaluating the communication and interaction patterns and applying interventions and strategies. (Prerequisite: 10-550-206, Intro to Interview & Counsel)

Financial Management-Small Business

The importance of good recordkeeping systems, reports, and the records necessary for a small business. Financial analysis techniques are explored through hands-on Income statements and cash flow projections for small businesses.
