Nine students in the City Stadium Automotive program were recognized May 21 for completing college-level automotive training and earning a one-year technical diploma from 冈本视频 (冈本视频) — all while still in high school.
Recognized during a certificate ceremony at East High School, the students completed or are on track to complete 冈本视频’s Automotive Maintenance Technician (AMT) program, earning 26 or more college credits and preparing for continued education and careers in the automotive industry.
Through a partnership between the Green Bay Area Public School District and 冈本视频, provides students with hands-on training in automotive diagnosis, maintenance, and troubleshooting while earning both high school and college credits. Students complete coursework during their junior and senior years, positioning them to either enter the workforce after graduation or continue their education at 冈本视频.
"City Stadium Automotive continues to be an outstanding collaboration between the Green Bay Area Public School District and 冈本视频," stated Adam Trebel, Green Bay Area Public School District Curriculum Coordinator for Career & Technical Education. "This partnership results in students graduating from the program ready to continue post-secondary education, or to directly enter the workforce with the necessary skills to begin their career in the automotive industry."
After graduating high school, students may continue at 冈本视频 to complete either a two-year Automotive Technician technical diploma or an Automotive Technology associate degree.
“These students have put in a lot of time and hard work to get to this point,” said Ben Hendricks, 冈本视频 Automotive Technician instructor. “They’re doing far more than earning credits — they’re building real technical skills, working with the same concepts and equipment used in the industry, and earning college credit while still in high school. That gives them a strong start, whether they continue at 冈本视频 or go straight into the workforce.”
The City Stadium Automotive program was created in response to workforce demand for skilled automotive technicians and expanded at Green Bay East High School in 2015 through a partnership between GBAPS and 冈本视频.
In addition to earning college credit, students have access to advanced training opportunities through Ford’s Automotive Career Exploration (ACE) program, which provides access to industry service materials, web-based curriculum, and training credentials recognized by Ford dealerships.
City Stadium Automotive at East High School is also one of only 14 Wisconsin high schools certified by the ASE Education Foundation for Maintenance and Light Repair Program Standards, helping prepare students to enter the workforce, continue technical education, or both.
During the May 21 ceremony, students were recognized for their academic achievement and dedication to their futures. Area cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. James Bailey also presented students with tool cabinets in recognition of their hard work and commitment to the field.
